IBM at VoiceCon Orlando 2009 - will you be there?

As my very first post to The Sametime Blog, I wanted to briefly bring you up to speed on IBM's participation at the upcoming VoiceCon Orlando 2009 event.  It's being held at the lovely Gaylord Palms in Orlando Florida from March 30 to April 2.  I would have been there myself as part of the demo staff, but unfortunately I was called for jury duty (all I can say is: it's a criminal case, it'll last 4 weeks, and I'll be very happy when it's over).

As with previous VoiceCon events, we'll have a significant presence at the show.  Here's just a sample of what we're up to; you can visit us online for the most up-to-date information.

  • Expo show floor demonstrations: booth #623.  We'll demo specific "day in the life" scenarios and how they can be improved using Sametime Standard and Sametime Advanced features, Lotus Connections, Lotus Quickr, Lotus Notes, services from IBM LotusLive and IBM Global Technology Services, integration with Microsoft environments and IBM Business Partners, and our newest offerings Sametime Unified Telephony and Sametime 8.5.
  • IBM Keynote Presentation: join Bob Picciano, General Manager, IBM Software Group, on Wednesday April 1 at 10:30am
  • Monday 9am tutorial: "IP Telephony System RFP: Who Delivers the Goods?", with David Marshak
  • Tuesday 8am panel: "Voice Mashups: Tool or Toy?" with Marlon Machado
  • Tuesday 2:30pm UC Leadership roundtable: "How Far Have We Come? What's Next?" with Marisa Viveros (VP Converged Communications and Mobility Services)
  • Wednesday 8am panel: "Web 2.0 & Enterprise Communications: Fad or the Future?" with Peter Fay (US Leader Unified Communications and Collaboration Services)
  • Thursday 9am VoiceCon Summit: "Cloud Computing's Role in Enterprise Communications" with Bethann Cregg (Director Lotus Online Collaboration Services)
  • Thursday 10am VoiceCon Summit: "Unified Communications" with Pat Galvin (Senior UC Architect, Unified Communications and Collaboration Software)
  • and lest you think we're still just blue suits, we do have some fun planned, so stay tuned.Just got an update (03/16/09): IBM is one of the sponsors for Taste of VoiceCon - we'll be the "assorted beers and caricaturists" table.  Sounds like fun -- the last time I got a caricature made was when I was living in Montreal and it was 1986.

And finally, a question for you: what would you like to see from IBM at VoiceCon Orlando?  Just comment below or send me an e-mail.
