Sametime Quick Tip: Screen Captures

If you're like us, your business runs on Sametime. Yet like most tools we use everyday, we don't often take advantage of their full potential. In this new Quick Tips series, we'll be highlighting features that often surprise long-time Sametime users. "Did you know Sametime could do that?" Feel free to add your own Quick Tips.

Screen Captures
This is one of the tools I use practically everyday. There are times when you need to show others precisely what you are seeing but an Instant Share or Instant Meeting would be overkill. For those times, Sametime has a built in Screen Capture tool. On the chat window below, its the second icon from the right in the editing toolbar. (Screen caps are also useful for writing quick tips, too.)

That chat window will minimize and your cursor will become a crosshair. Click your mouse and drag the cursor over the area you wish to capture. Release the mouse when the capture box covers the area you want. Next, you'll see the annotations window where you can point out exactly what you want your colleagues to notice.

From there you can save the image as a file, paste it into the current chat window for additional comments, or just hit send.
