David Marshak recently joined John Iasiuolo's daily radio/internet broadcast Computer Outlook to discuss the future of instant messaging. David touched on future applications such as machine translation, video conferencing over IM, and role-based IMing. He also discussed the role of IM in the enterprise, IM etiquette and the interoperability of Sametime 7.5 with public IM platforms.

"With email, one expects an answer back within 24 hours. When you have IM, you expect an answer within seconds. The compression of that time changes everything."
