DB2 first database recognized as "VMware Ready"
Earlier this week VMware extended its VMware Ready program to include middleware and application software. DB2 became the first database (and at present is the only database management system) recognized with the VMware Ready designation.
From the VMware press release:
"We are living in an age in which businesses must have access to vast quantities of information as a tool for making smarter and faster decisions, at a lower cost," said Bernard Spang, director, Information Management Strategy, IBM. "Through the VMware Ready(TM) program and the long-standing collaboration between our two companies, our mutual clients can confidently enjoy the cost and energy savings both IBM DB2 software and VMware virtualization technologies deliver."
