Data Management e-Mail Signature
Promoting our Data Management communities are as easy as adding an automatic signature to your e-mail. Here are the necessary files and instructions for adding an e-mail signature to your Lotus Notes e-mail. (I'm sure this can be done with Outlook, as well, but I don't have first-hand experience with how to do so.)
Instructions
1. Download the signature files
Right-click on the following links to download both the "dm_signature_text.htm" and "dm_signature_image.gif " files and save them to a convenient location - like "My Documents."
2. Personalize your signature file with your name, address, etc.
- Open the "dm_signature_text.html" file with Notepad (do not use MS Word).
- Scroll down to the section titled START PERSONALIZING BELOW
- Replace NAME with your name.
- Replace TITLE and ADDRESS in the same manner (or customize with additional information).
- Replace both occurrences of your INTERNET E-MAIL ADDRESS with your e-mail address (e.g. name@us.ibm.com), and make sure not to delete the > bracket at the end of the first line
- Replace PHONE with your phone number
- Add any OPTIONAL ADDITIONAL TEXT (additional phone numbers, blog address, etc.) or remove that line
- Save the file
- Double-click on the file to launch it in a browser and make sure it looks the way you want it to.
3. Add the signature file to your e-mail.
- In Lotus Notes, complete the following steps
- Open a new e-mail
- Select Tools, and Preferences and follow the installation instructions below.
- Go to your PREFERENCES menu.
- Click on the SIGNATURE tab.
- Browse to the location of the HTML file you wish to use in your My Documents folder.
- (Hint: you may have to change File Type to HTML to see the file name.)
- Select the file and click OK
- Open a new note to confirm that the signature has been included and looks the way you want it to!
4. Send this URL to all of your friends!
