Best Practices for Executing a Sametime Advanced Deployment

Sametime Standard is IBM's platform for Unified Communications. Rich presence helps you find and reach your colleagues in the most effective manner. The Sametime Connect client provides a unified user experience that makes moving across communications methods - text, voice, video, meetings - seamless and intuitive. Sametime's SDKs let you extend and customize the Connect client and deliver UC capabilities into your own business processes and applications. As a whole, Sametime can help you speed your processes and make better decisions.

But all of this amazing potential hinges on one underlying assumption - that you know with whom you wish to collaborate. What if you don't know who can answer your question?

That's where the community collaboration capabilities of Sametime Advanced come into play. Advanced's Broadcast Communities and Persistent Chat Rooms let you reach out to colleagues you don't know in real time. And the response to Advanced has been overwhelming - accounting for nearly 60% of our sales since it launched in early 2008.

In response to that demand, UC View has commissioned a three part series on the best practices for planning, building and using Sametime Advanced. It was written by two leading authorities on the subject -  Jennifer Wales, Senior Managing Consultant, and Jacques Perrault, IT Architect, of IBM Software Services for Lotus. The first two parts in this "field guide" for Sametime Advanced are available today and the third should be coming shortly. (Note: access does require a subscription to UC View content.)
